Soccer, also known as football, is the world's most popular sport. With a vast number of fans worldwide, it has an appeal that is unmatched by any other sport.

The soccer World Cup, held every four years, is the most well-known event in the world of sports. Its influence and ratings are comparable to the Olympic Games, and it is considered the festival of the soccer world.

The origins of soccer can be traced back to China, where the game was known as cuju. It was then developed and spread to Europe by the Arabs, and gradually evolved into the sport we know today. Although it is believed that the Romans and Greeks also played a version of the game in the Middle Ages.

Modern soccer originated in England, and whereby the early 19th century, it had become popular in some areas of Europe and beyond. The first written rules of soccer were published in 1848, between Cambridge and Oxford, where 11 players per team participated in the game.

This number of players has been carried over to the present day, and many other rules have been improved as the sport has developed.

On October 26, 1863, representatives of 11 clubs gathered in London to establish the rules of soccer and to form an authoritative soccer organization. This date is considered by all to be the birthday of modern soccer.

The most common version of the game is the 11-a-side soccer game, where two teams of 11 players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper, play with their feet and can also use their heads, but cannot touch the ball with their hands.

The game is divided into 45 minutes for the first and second halves, and 90 minutes in total for the whole game, with a few minutes of extra time for the referee in the first and second halves.

There are also versions of the game played with 7 and 5 players, but both the size of the field and the intensity of the game are not as good as 11-player soccer, resulting in less attention being paid to them. When it comes to soccer, the default is 11-player soccer.

The birth of the modern Olympic Games had a significant impact on the world of sports. In order to increase the influence and popularity of soccer in the world, at a FIFA Congress in 1928, it was decided that the first Football World Cup would be held in 1930, in Uruguay.

The success of the first soccer World Cup accelerated the development of soccer and brought it into a new chapter. The World Cup has been held once every four years since, with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar being the 22nd edition. Have you watched the exciting matches?
