The Neem tree (scientific name: Melia azedarach L.) is a deciduous tree of the Neem family, growing up to 10 m tall. Its bark is grey-brown and widely branched. Its leaves are 2-3 times odd-pinnate, with leaflets that are opposite, blade ovate, elliptic to lanceolate, with the terminal leaflet being slightly larger.

It is distributed in all provinces south of the Yellow River in China and has been widely cultivated at low altitudes in open fields, roadsides, or sparse forests.
